Tough Getting Older
If I were a little younger
Many things I'd want to do
Ride a bike, roller skate?
I'd like to do that too.
Shop all day and dance all night
Would be a lot of fun
Have lots of company over
When the day was done.
Just get up every morning
Eager to rip my house apart
Clean every corner
Next day once more I'd start.
Mow the grass, plant the flowers
Trim, sow and plow
Don't remember how I did it all
But you know? I did it somehow.
Followed the children everywhere
Active and loving it all
And now they are grown and I am tired
Even dread going to the Mall.
Yep, I know I'm getting older
When the obituaries are all I read
If I get the bed and dishes done
By George I've done my deed.
This tired and worn out body
Has really had enough
And now I watch the younger ones
Get out and strut their stuff.
It's tough getting older!
