My aspirations glorify
The galaxy way up high
Sparkling stars at midnight
In the darkness of the sky.
I dream you are beside me
Oh, how I love you so
I say a prayer to God above
To somehow let you know.
I think of you at this time
The loneliness seeps within
While curled up by the window
In the quietness of our den.
The last time we said our good-byes
Seems like a century ago
We thought you'd be back home real soon
So little did we know.
Where are you tonight my dear one?
Shrouded in danger and fear
I pray for your safe return
My darling I want you right here.
I dread a knock upon my door
Or hear the telephone ring
An unusual letter in the mail
Fearing what these things will bring.
I ask God to watch over you
From his home up in the sky
I sit here waiting with love and fear
As the lonely night passes by.
