Friends are defined in many ways
Some solemn, some funny, some sad
Yet I don't need many words to say
You're the best friend I ever had.

I am sure you have read this often
But did it come from the heart
Someone that feels very close to you
Be it near or far apart.

Friends come in many colors
Never always the same
That really isn't important
Nor is the spelling of a name.

You are a friend that I cherish
As I start each and every day
Know that you live in my heart
And that is just where you will stay.
