A Friend Like You

God may have known the time would come
We'd need a word of cheer
To give us a special complement
Or wipe away a tear.

To let him know the need to share
Life's precious little things
And bring us even closer
To the happiness they bring.

The comfort of a loving friend
An understanding heart
To have someone who's caring
Someone that way from the start.

He knew that I would need a friend
Loving, caring and true
God blessed me with an answer
Giving me a friend like you.
