Friends Without Wings

Friends Without Wings

A special poem for special friends
Is what I write
People in our lives that make a difference
In the way we look at ourselves and others as well
Even though we may have a handicap
They are no different than we are
Going through life with ups and downs
Most times wearing a smile, other times a frown
What we give and share comes back around

Lending a helping hand, sharing a friendly smile
Being all the same under God's eyes
Special friends I have found
Keeping you in my heart all year round
I write these words to let you all know
How much you have reached and touched my soul
I see in my special friends
A rare and true love that will never end
To me you are all angels without wings
I cherish the true meaning your friendship brings

Whether we're far or near
Sharing laughter and love
We gather in groups with one another
Talking of today and our yesteryears
What they have brought and what they will bring
Happy to share so others will know
The feelings we have and the ones we may hide
Knowing the pain at times we feel
So we lend an ear with our support
Hoping and praying that when tomorrow comes
Each of us will have a better day

Through the struggles of my life
When the path gets rough with time
There is one thing I can always find
A special friend with a compassionate ear
Lending a shoulder, sharing a tear
To you my friends I give thanks above
For each and everyone that God's sends with love
And through His grace, someday
We shall all meet again in a different way
In this place where we will all have our wings
And praises to Him we shall sing
