As My Child Sleeps

I smile when I see you asleep in your crib

Cheek down and yet poised as in flight.

I wonder then why must you hurry so fast

On your journey thru dreamland tonight.

No, linger my child

and pause while you can

Too soon life will rush you

when you are a man.

For now only stroll - or better yet drift

Drift with your dreams hand in hand.

Savor your secret and unspoiled hours

In your night's magic wonderland.
